Make full stops, look left and right a couple times before going after stopping, use your blinkers, wear your seatbelt, have both hands on the wheel and no distractions, make sure the instructor in the car with you is wearing his/her seatbelt, drive the speed limit on the course, and know how to parallel park. I was quite far from the curb when I parked and the instructor noted it but still passed me on parking. I was 17 when I took it. If you can do all this, you should be fine. It's not difficult. How old are you now?

The parallel-parking test will again become part of the driving test for a New Jersey operator's license next month. The State Division of Motor Vehicles dropped the requirement a year ago to save about one and a half minutes on each test and to cut the backlog that kept applicants waiting as long.
I just want to know if this was recent or not so I can know if those general rules are still in effect. 6 inches from the curb is the limit. This is in the book. I've had students of my own park too far away maybe once or twice out of the hundreds of students I've taught and they got a redo. Honestly, it depends on the evaluator and how their night went or day is going. They will take it out on you.
Most people who pass don't belong on the road. The test is really just an intro to driving. You learn when you're out on the road.almost everyone will get into a car accident one day.and then you've learned your lesson. Newark and Edison are out on the road, but even then it's just a circle. I took the test a little over 4 years ago, I failed it on my first attempt because of the parallel parking, but I passed it on the second test. It was not too difficult, just don't get too nervous or anything and just pay close attention.
What exactly did you do that caused you to fail parallel parking? I've had people tell me that gently hitting the curb is allowed, and that the only things that could cause you to auto fail would be hitting a cone or running over the curb. And people have told me that if you know you are too deep or too far away from the curb that you can fix it, as long as you don't put the car in park. I live around Atlantic city and all the people they do not like Indian old man. He is not friendly.

WRITTEN TEST SERVICES: Haven’t passed the written knowledge test? You do not have to wait to take the test in high school, take it with us and get your permit and driver instruction started sooner! You do not have to wait until the test is administered in high school driver education class. You can take the test with us any time following your 16 th birthday! We have included links to the NJMVC knowledge test and individual chapter quizzes from the MVC driver’s manual in the ‘LINKS’ section of our website. Upon turning the age of 16, one of the first steps to participating in driving instruction is the student must pass a written knowledge test.
Since this requires a licensed driving school instructor to purchase the student learner’s permit prior to taking the written test, we offer this as a one-time service to our students. We can provide transportation to/from the local MVC agency.
If the student successfully passes the written test we can then immediately proceed to the first 2-hours of behind-the-wheel instruction. ROAD TEST SERVICES: There are three main reasons to consider using one of our vehicles for the NJMVC road test: 1.
Family vehicle is unacceptable for use on the state road test. If the vehicle has a console running between the driver and passenger seats in front it must have the emergency brake handle located on this console.
In other words, the MVC instructor must have a way to brake the vehicle in case of emergency during the road test. (Emergency brake locations to the left of the driver seat or on the floor on the driver’s side are not acceptable for use during the road test.) 2. Family vehicle is large. The parallel parking space used during the road test is approximately 25 feet long.
The larger the family vehicle is, the more problematic it may be for your teen to successfully parallel park such a vehicle. Our Honda Civics fit very comfortably into the parking space at MVC. Student simply feels more confident and comfortable taking the road test in the same vehicle that they learned how to drive in. Confidence goes a long way in ensuring success during the road test.
It is usually best to call two (2) weeks prior to the scheduled NJMVC road test appointment to schedule the use of our vehicles and instructors. Call 609-447-0142 Road Test Two (2) Hour Review: This is an intensive two (2) hour review lesson of skills the student will be required to demonstrate on the NJMVC road test. This lesson is especially helpful if the six hours of instruction were completed over six months ago. This lesson is usually scheduled several days before the road test. Road Test one (1) Hour Review + Vehicle Rental: The student may also combine a special one hour review lesson on the same day as the road test with the use of our vehicle for the road test.
This lesson tends to focus upon parallel parking skills so that these skills are “fresh” in the student’s mind just prior to the state road test. Go to: for online flashcards to use when studying for the written test.
