I upgraded to OSX 10.11 last week and WeatherLink has been broken since then. It will open but not allow me to select the USB communication link so there is no access to data that has not been downloaded. Once again I have emailed Davis about the WeatherLink software package not only looking like something from a sixth grade computer lab, but that it is not compatible with OS X 10.11.

If past experience is any gage I will not get a response from Davis. I'm going to try WeatherCat as a replacement. That's $65 I shouldn't have to spend. The Davis console/USB dongle should be offered as a standalone item because the included software is useless. It took me roughly 2 hours to set the system up and place it on my roof. The software came with explicit instructions to link the Console to my Mac this took another 40 minutes till I was up and running.
The new Mac software worked well. I have had a Davis weather station since the Mid 90's I up dated around 2005 with a like to my PC. The weather station has not changed since then. I've been saving for several years in retirement to purchase a reliable weather station and have focused on Davis products as the best, based on reviews. As an Apple OS X user, I saw the Davis Vantage Pro2 (VP2) OS X software compatibility and naturally assumed an Apple Quallity interface.
I have used MS Windows for years and do not believe this Davis 6520 data logger MAC software is anywhere near the poorest Windows based useability standards. The Davis 6520 data logger hardware is functional, but the computer interface, control and operations are 1984ish, with color. I would not recommend the Davis VP2 for Apple OS X users until the interface is re-engineered. Comments about Davis Instruments 6520 Software for Vantage Pro 2, Mac: The software product is obsolete. It requires Mac 32-bit extensions to work at all, but effective with 10.8 Mountain Lion, Apple withdrew support for those extensions. The CD is a coaster!
However, the included USB dongle works well, and is required to hook the Vantage Vue station to other pieces of software that do work. There are a couple.
I use WeatherCat. Basically you are buying a small, expensive, but necessary piece of hardware to attach your Vue to the internet. Davis should really repackage it as such, or license a better software product from a 3rd party vendor and include it, at this price.
