I'm relatively new to iPhoto, so forgive me if this is a naive question. I've got about 30 pictures in an album, and want to export it to a web site. That part was simple enough, but I want to have each picture have a copyright notice under it. It looks like the easiest way would be to just shove the copyright notice into the comment box.
The problem is that there doesn't seem to be any way to set the comments for all the images at once. If I select all the images, the comment box is inactive. It's a plugin for iPhoto which gives you a much-improved web export with many features, including the ability to create your own templates for the web albums it creates, or download templates designed by other users. You can hold the Command (clover) key and click on the ones you want, or shift-click for a range. If they're already in an album and you want them all, 'Select All' from the Edit menu will select everything in the currently selected album. (You may know that paragraph already; just want to cover the bases for whoever reads this.) With the pictures you want selected, go under the Photos menu to Batch Change. One of the things you can edit is comments, where you can add your copyright notice.
There's even a checkbox if you want to to append it to any existing comments instead of overwriting. Another option to consider. I just paid the $20 shareware fee for this nice plug-in for iPhoto 4: It makes better web pages, and one of the things it can do (at least with the 'homepage' template for it that I'm using) is add a copyright notice to each page, generated as it does the export. I put my stuff up on. Nothing fancy, just some casual snaps with my Canon PS-S400 of a local regatta. I think is my favorite. It was a crisp clear day and I was deliberately shooting into the sun to try and capture the sunlight glinting off the water. It came out surprisingly well.
Click to expand.Ahhhh. There were HUGE changes with version 4 of the program (there was no version 3). Performance is much, much better, and the Batch Change command is one of the new options. The upgrade isn't free, unfortunately, but included with their $49 iLife software suite (which also includes the movie editor, DVD burner, etc.). I bought it specifically for the iPhoto upgrade, and it's been worth the money to me.
That said, there's a version of that BetterHTML Export plug-in for iPhoto 2 as well; it may be able to do what you need with respect to adding the copyright notice. Certainly worth a shot.
